INVENTIONS FROM THE FOURTH GRADE MINDS

The fourth-graded class studies inventions with the pros.

The boys of the 4th grade class spent the last month or so studying inventions and inventors.  They had three guest specakers for this unit, and we are thankful to God for providing each of them.

Mr. Jared Joyce (not pictured) came and talked to the boys about coming up with invention ideas.

Mr. David Yakos (above) helped the boys understand how to take the idea into development of a product (in the photo above they are working on creating egg protectors for eggs that need to be thrown off of our school porch and survive).

And Mr. Klien Gilhousen (below) explained the patent process to the boys (as well as describing some of his personal contributions to innovations in the telecommunications industry).

The creative juices were flowing, and we could see the wheels turning in the minds of these young guys.

The culmination of the unit was an oral presentation of the inventions the boys came up with.

It was exciting to see the presentation of everything from snowball launchers to cameras that put people to sleep (for spies to use of course) to systems to capture and store the electrical power of lightening.

Look out!  These boys are going to rock the world!

And in case you were wonderding, we don't grow fourth graders so big they can look over the podium - we just give them a boost up there!
