One question we always hear at the end of school: “How can I motivate my student(s) to keep learning across summer?” Petra’s Summer Scholae may be the answer.

Petra’s Narratives of Nature Summer Scholae is an integrated combination of literary, mathematic, scientific, and dramatic studies and experiences centered around the “shalom” (“the way things ought to be”) of God’s creation.

Design and pattern, ratios and beauty, conservation and stewardship – these are all areas and themes of exploration students ages 7-12 will explore during our Summer Scholae, and all right in the backyard of our Petra Academy campus at 4720 Classical Way.

Led by our Petra administration, members of Petra’s dedicated teaching staff, and a handful of enthusiastic secondary students, elementary-aged students will enjoy a unique hybrid of summer learning inspired by the study of the ecosystem of the marshes next door to Petra.

  • Trusted Name
Petra Academy is the oldest classical Christian school in Montana, providing this type of education in Bozeman since 1995.
  • Program Options
We recognize that summer brings its own scheduling challenges, so we’re providing morning, afternoon, and full-day options to help make things easier for you and your family.
  • Faculty & Facility
Our people and property are two key aspects of what makes Petra what it is. And, with the adjacent marshes and Baxter Creek right in our backyard, outdoor learning is easy and fun.
  • Reasonable Price
You’d pay more for babysitting than for our dynamic program! We’ve kept prices reasonable for these unique weeks of activities, instruction, and engagement.

Frequently asked questions about Petra’s Summer Scholae:

Is this only for Petra students?
Summer Scholae is for any student who embraces the idea of learning how to love to learn, and to do so in the playground of God’s creation. We are glad to welcome un-enrolled students in addition to currently-enrolled Petra students.

How many students/week?
We’re keeping the ratio of scholars to staff low by limiting the number of students each week to 55 in addition to our school leadership, 4 elementary teachers, and 4 high school-aged aides.

Is there scholarship available?
Because this is our first year for the Summer Scholae, we are not able to provide any type of scholarship assistance or discounts (single- or multi-student); this includes students of current Petra families, as well as students of Petra staff.
